Who is making all this noise?

I am Fabio Ammannati, a senior audio engineer with over two decades of experience in the audio industry.

Sound engineering is my life: As a kid, I was fascinated by listening to the classical music records my parents owned. It was magical to “just listen” and hear the story that each piece of music narrated. I didn’t realize it then, but what excited me were the fantasies I constructed behind those stories. I traveled to places far without actually going anywhere from my parent’s living room. That was when my entire body became aware of the power of the emotion a sound can communicate. Since then, I‘ve been pursuing and learning how to master the art and techniques of audio engineering.

For the last two decades, I have been working with audio post-production and using DAW, such as Pro Tools (being a certified PT Post Operator), Apple Logic Pro, Ableton Live, and Reaper. I have been involved in several music productions, from producing demos to delivering final mixes for more complex projects. As a musician, I am versed in the creative process for different genres of music, resulting in various collaborations with artists in Latin America and Europe. As a sound designer, I have independently led the creative aspects of crafting sounds and musical scores for short movies and advertisements - from implementing more conventional techniques such as recording Foleys to using sampling and sound synthesis. Through my experience in post-production, I mastered audio editing and optimization of different visual materials, such as commercials and animation films. I also have taught sound design and audio post-production in a post-grade program for two years.

I have a track record leading complex, cross-disciplinary teams: As a live events Mixer Engineer, Stage Manager, and Audio Production Coordinator, I have led teams of over fifteen people in 200+ large-scale global festivals, which taught me to thrive in high-stress environments while maintaining a cohesive, collaborative team. Being a versatile professional enabled me to navigate between technical and creative teams comfortably. Mastering the production process allows me to seamlessly translate a Creative Director or client’s request (e.g., “the music needs to be darker”) into technical guidance for performers (e.g., “try playing in a G minor key”). Having lived in four different countries in the last 15 years and worked with multiple world-class artists and professionals allowed me to learn from distinct teams in different cultural settings and languages. This extensive, varied experience makes me a resilient, proactive, flexible, and fast-learning professional who can easily adapt to new environments. I want to continue experimenting with the interplay between music and sound by merging advanced technology with what I felt while lying in my parent’s living room, backed by a world-class team to make it happen.
